New York Fashion Week Scrap Notes 2

Posted in Editorial by mibnufajar on February 19, 2010

This is the second part of my NY Fashion Week review, you can  find the first part here.

On my point of view, generally fashion shown in NY runways are more wearable than it’s counterpart in Milan and Paris, which are mostly art and really hauté. Calvin Klein, for example. Consistent to it’s futuristic and clean lines, the collection really is sophisticated and simple but elegant.

But sometimes, it’s waaaaay too futuristic.

Perry Ellis shows a very luxurious collections. The color chosen looks very ‘rich’. Amazing.

Michael Bastian shows it’s American style, but some consider it too casual for him. For me? They’re just fine.

Beside his own collection, Michael Bastian also collaborating with Gant, Swedish-owned-American-brand. Which in the show, I may highlight, showing a model wearing only white towel with a Nike Sandal.

For another eye candy, maybe Victor Glemaud can show you the way. The boots and knitted work is good.

Our beloved Marc Jacobs shows baggy pants. I don’t know how it will survived the reality outside runway, but we totally wear whatever Marc Jacobs design us.

For the ugliest collections, Thom Browne can have his crown. This totally feminine collection, with it’s furs, scarves makes the models looks like drag queen from the 60’s.

And for the last collection, Diesel Gold Black showed two items i would love to have, especially the white jacket. It’s a better version of white jacket i want from the Levi’s Spring Summer 2010 collections.

New York Fashion Week Scrap Notes 1

New York Fashion Week review, my style.

Just like Gossip Girl once said, ” When the white tents blossom in Bryant Park it can only mean one thing: Fashion Week.” Although this year Mercedes-Benz sponsored New York Fashion Week started with tragic news when the super talented Alexander McQueen found death, let’s not mourn. What we should mourn about is the few collections among what I’m presenting below because the ugliness is in intolerable level.

DKNY showing some amazing jacket and blazer in their collections, clean cuts and the use of two tones in most of the tops are kinda cool.

Luxurious red jacket and Burberry style coat from Duckie Brown

Generra shows some nice knitted cardigan but ugly condom-looking hat.

Lacoste, the fun colorful brand showing nice range of colored garment but what i fond of is their white-ish pieces.

Transparent umbrellas ? Not so fond of them. Plain black umbrellas  is way more acceptable in fashion world. How about transparent raincoat ? Look what Patrick Ervell has to offer below

And, the ugliest model in most disastrous collections goes to : John Bartlett. This collections is a mix of everything but not getting anywhere.

Lookbook : Marc Jacobs Fall Winter 2010

I’m okay with all the tops. But from hips down, they are just plain fugly. A baggy trousers ? A half-and-torn-kilts ? You might as well just kill me. Modeled by Adrian Bosch (what a loooong leg), take a peek of what you’re about to see in the upcoming New York Fashion Week.

After previously featuring Andrés Segura on their Fall Winter 2009 campaign, ZARA taps Sean O’Pry as the face for their Spring Summer 2010 campaign. Not a big fan of this season collections, but Sean-O ? I surely am.

God. Such a beauty. He’s one of the prominent face in the fashion industry. Look at the D&G Anthology perfume collection (FW 2009) which featured the some of the most well known models such as Naomi Campbelll, Claudia Schiffer adn Noah Mills.

Le Bataleur is the name of the fragrance Tyson Ballou promoting.

Too bad he’s nowhere to be seen on the Spring Summer 2010 campaign ads. Below are his picture from various campaign and editorial.

Here’s the look from the runway

And finally, the backstage picture..

Jon Kortajarena, Andrés Segura & Jake Davies being photographed by Mario Testino in a fashion spread named How To Wear Denim (Anywhere). This is one of many How To featured in VMAN Magazine. This one is a favorite piece of mine, even though i personally think that wearing double denim should be considered a sin.
